Ozubulu youths goes wild over church opening

Ozubulu youths under the auspices of Ozubulu Youths Association, last Monday protested the re-opening of St Philips Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu, Anambra State barely a week after gunmen killed worshipers in the church.

President of the association, Comrade Emeka Anakwe said that it was worrisome that the church would be re-opened for service when investigations into the matter had not been concluded or even the victims buried.

He noted that it was the highest level of provocation for the youths to see the church holding service when the community is still mourning.

Comrade Anakwe who condemned the attack on the innocent worshipers said that the youths of Ozubulu were concerned about the matter as residents of the community no longer slept with their eyes closed because of fear of being attacked again.

The youths who took the protest to their Igwe's palace and the police station in the town after moving round the community, said their town had always been known for its peaceful nature.

Comrade Anakwe said that the youths had been neglected for so long and would no longer accept such disposition from the elders of the community "and we are prepared to play active role in the issues that affect the community."
