DC UNITED TRADE FOR MIDFIELDER YAM ASAD FROM ATLANTA

DC UNITED TRADE FOR MIDFIELDER YAM ASAD FROM ATLANTA
dc united trade for midfielder yam asad from atlanta united, along with the purchase option from Asad’s club Velez Sarsfield in Argentina.
Yamil Asad played a key role for MLS newcomers Atlanta United in their inaugural MLS season. Asad scored seven goals while adding 13 assists for United while on loan from Velez Sarsfield in Argentina.

The Argentine midfielder will return to MLS with a United for the 2018 season on loan yet again, but this time with conference rivals, DC United.
DC has reported purchased Asad’s rights from Atlanta for $500,000 in allocation money, while paying Velez Sarsfield $300,000 in loan fees upfront, which can be used towards the $1-million purchase fee option that will once again be included in the loan. Early details indicate that Asad’s option includes performance-based incentives that can trigger the purchase.
DC Making Moves
The talented Asad moves from one impressive midfield to another, as he will take the field alongside long-time MLS standout Luciano Acosta, along with USMNT up-and-comer Paul Arriola and Hungarian play-maker Zoltan Stieber, both of whom were added last summer.
Head coach Ben Olsen will have his hands full trying to get all of his attacking options on the field, but it is a problem he likely appreciates after DC scored a league fewest 31 goals in 2017.
Asad joins United ahead of 2018 along with Costa Rican midfielder Ulises Segura and Venezuelan standout, Junior Moreno. DC also made several moves during the 2017 Summer Transfer Window including USYNT standout Russell Canouse from Hoffenheim. Canouse immediately started in DC’s final 10 MLS matches, going a full 90 in all of them save their final match. United also quickly integrated the aforementioned Arriola and Stieber immediately after their arrival.

While DC now has multiple intriguing options in the midfield, the team is still surrounded with questions mark both up top and along the back line. The club is currently in Clearwater, Florida participating in the Rowdies Suncoast Invitation for preseason.
