MORGAN STANLEY, SYSTEMATIC TRADER SWAPS FOR MILLENNIUM

MORGAN STANLEY, SYSTEMATIC TRADER SWAPS FOR MILLENNIUM
A systematic trader at Morgan Stanley, who was made a managing director last year, has swapped the US investment bank for a post at the $35bn hedge fund Millennium Management.

New York-based Amir Khandani's switch will reunite him with Peter Santoro, Millennium's global head of equities. Santoro joined from Morgan Stanley, where he was the global head of equity trading, in 2017.

Both Khandani and Santoro attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

According to one person familiar with the matter, Khandani worked on Morgan Stanley's central risk book, a sophisticated system employed by many investment banks to manage trading positions across their business.

Millennium has also hired Neil Chriss, who shut down $2bn hedge fund Hutchin Hill last November, for a new quantitative trading business, according to his LinkedIn profile. The mathematician also worked for Morgan Stanley between 1996 and 1998.
