WILLIAN REVEALS ALL ON CONFLICT WITH CONTE

WILLIAN REVEALS ALL ON CONFLICT WITH CONTE

Willian is a key player for Conte in Chelsea’s Premier League winning campaign in 2017 but by the end of last season, the Brazilian star was struggling to break into the starting XI.

The attacker’s unhappiness led to speculation he could leave the club with Barcelona and Manchester United willing to capture him but Conte’s sacking in July has seen Willian commit his future to the club.

Conte’s relationship with his players and the Chelsea board is understood to have deteriorated significantly last season.

And Willian has opened up on his struggles with the Italian coach and expressed his hopes for new man Maurizio Sarri.

“I hope he [Sarri] is not like Conte,” Willian told ESPN Brazil. "No, I'm kidding! For me, Conte was a manager who was very difficult to work with.

“His philosophy, his way of dealing with things is very complicated. There were a few games ... Sometimes we just don't understand.

“You're playing very well, then you get substituted. I do not understand.

“There were two times when I got substituted and I went straight to the locker room. It was hard to work with him.

“The important thing now is to talk about Sarri. From what I heard, I am sure he is a great manager, who does a great job with the team. I have high expectations for working with him.”

In comparison to his relationship with Conte, Willian was far more complimentary about Jose Mourinho and revealed he would like to play for the Portuguese coach again.

He added: “Mourinho is the best manager I’ve ever worked with. We have a good relationship, we are friends.

“Sometimes we talk, we text, we send messages to each other via WhatsApp. He is a great manager, I really enjoyed working with him. I hope I can work with him again someday.

“Also, everything comes out on the internet, too. But Mourinho talks to my agent all the time he says ‘bring him, bring him’.

“No, he has never called me, but he always sends me text messages.
